Solid Gold Health Products for Pets is an El Cajon, CA based natural pet foods company that manufactures and markets S.E.P. It was founded by Sissy Harrington-McGill, a great dane enthusiast. She started the company after a trip abroad. She found that great danes in Germany had a much longer life span than those in the United States, and attributed that fact to the food that they ate. Her natural pet food / remedy company was founded in 1974. Some of the product claims that she made landed her and the company in trouble with the FDA several years ago.

The ingredient list for S.E.P.:
- Dicalcium Phosphate (generally used in breakfast cereals, dog treats, enriched flour, noodle products and sometimes as a tableting agent in pharmaceuticals)
- Rice Flour
- Glutamic Acid (MSG)
- Peppermint
- Yucca schidigera (a desert plant, often used as a deodorizer in animal food)
- Beef Liver
- Oil of Parsley (generally used in soaps, detergents, colognes, cosmetics and perfumes, especially men’s fragrances)
- Natural Flavoring
I haven’t personally tried this product, although it seems to get pretty decent reviews on amazon.com. It may be worth a look.
